Catherine Ann Jones has written a book that lives up to its subtitle: The Craft and Soul of Writing. Although after having read the book and utilized many of the exercises, I would put the word, "Soul" ahead of "Craft."As a former advertising copywriter, I've been trained in craft. But as a children's book author, my foundation must be soul followed by writing craft. I've written two new children's books since following some of Catherine's suggestions. And I think they're two of my strongest stories.This is one of the half-dozen books on writing that I keep near my desk.
