As he points out toward its end, the author’s aim isn’t so much to prescribe courses of action as to engender a helpful perspective, an approach to life. In this, the book succeeds, especially in establishing and fleshing out its central motif of pilgrimage and journey. There’s an openness in the sharing of deeply personal points of travel in his own life journey and a particular richness and depth to the array of more external examples he uses to illustrate points along the way. It’s also a book filled with God’s Word, graciously handled, its stories and musings wisely and consistently tethered to biblical thinking. I’m grateful to Mark for writing this fine book, one I have really enjoyed reading.
