One damned fine read. Spoiler alert.This one starts with Assistant Director of the FBI Martha Meyerstein being stopped by cops. Now Martha never travels home the same way twice. That's something that she would never do. The cop, who isn't a cop, insists that she take a breathalyzer test. A test which knocks her out. She is now a prisoner of who knows who.Jon Reznick is at home in Rockland, Maine. Jon is at a local bar with a friend. A friend who's pretty drunk. Jon gets him home and then takes the mile walk to his house to find a man on his porch. A man he doesn't know.Jon is ex Delta Force, the Unit. He was also been an assassin for the CIA. Killing is nothing new to Jon but this guy doesn't look like an enemy. In fact he looks like anything but. Jon, of course, is highly suspicious till the man tells him he's Martha Meyersteins ex. A Martha Jon has helped in the past.The man, Professor Meyerstein tells Jon that Martha is missing. Jon tells the man she could have left to take a break as being an Assistant Director to the FBI is anything but an easy job. Professor Meyerstein then tells Jon that the FBI removed all the electronic equipment from her house and the kids are now in a safe house. He asks for Jon's help in finding her. A Jon Martha told him about.Jon heads for DC and the FBI. Its a mission that will lead to many things. A mission Jon Reznick is more than capable of carrying out.So begins one damned fine read full of twists, turns and a good man doing the right thing.This one has Jon, Roy Stamper who was Martha's second, O' Donoghue the Director of the FBI, a man Reznick will begin to trust, a man who lets Reznick off the leash to do what he does best, Curt White an agent who isn't who or what he appears to be, the CIA, Homeland Security, the FBI, friends Reznick calls in to assist, the Russian Vladimir r Merkov, his son Dimitrie, Andrew Swan, Max Charles. Martha Meyerstein held captive, a Martha who is also wounded, Hart Island, a twisted trail that everyone is having trouble following, a Jon Reznick who knows there is more to this situation than meets the eye, a Curt who shoot Jon, a Curt who takes Swan with him when he leave, a Swan who tells Jon about Hart Island, a Jon who survives and now knows Curt White isn't to be trusted, a Jon who takes a look at Hart Island, a Hart Island where no one is found, a second Island that Swan mentions, a Jon who goes in alone to rescue Martha, a Jon who gets the job done, a Jon and agents who head for an airport where Dimitrie Merkov will be appearing, a shootout and Jon Reznick doing his best to save who he can, take out the bad guys and survive.Five Stars and then some
