This book is by far one of the best general food tasting books ever. Barbara Woodhouse passed many years ago however her book was and still is a must have book for dog training. She was a lady from England and for many years she’s appeared on talk shows. I would highly recommend this book there are many on the market but I could only have one book this wood be there one I would choose.My friend apparently has not studied the book.I personally used my copy with good results.Best dog training bookMy mother loved this author and I remembered her having a copy. I wanted to be able to help my daughter out with her new puppy so thought this a good place to start. Training a puppy takes consistancy and patience with good suggestions and rules. Sometimes the book seemed a bit wordy but otherwise is filled with excellent advice.Good tips an older dog training book but still some good tips.Barbara Woodhouse is the bible for dog training. Amazing experience and empathy. Also read her pony bookHow do you think it would feel to have a chain around your neck and have someone yank you around? It's not fair to the dogs, there are less aggressive and cruelty free ways to shape dog's behavior. So you have a choice: painful aversive methods or positive reinforcement. The decision will reflect your personality. The book: not enough emphasis on positive reinforcement, not scientific, outdated. However, I have no doubt that she loved her animals, its just that dog training has come a long way.Best book for training your dog I have ever read.This book is a classic of its time but uses out of date theories and methods. Not good as a training book but great as a history of where dog training today has come from. If you are looking for a dog training book look for positive reinforcement methods and don’t look hereI first bought this book early 1980's when Barbara was on tv, when I got my first puppy Labrador and she was perfect !!! I have just got a puppy Bichon and I hope this book works as well for me this time , ???? Barbara does explain what to do if something doesn't work ..I had this book from when I was 13 or 14 and used read it train my mums dog. It took me right back there. It's a great book and seller great seller. Delivery fast. Highly recommend. ThanksA lady who knew a great deal about training dogs.
